COMFORTABLY NUMB

A good friend of mine Mr zoheb hasan first sang this song to me and it had a deep impact on me not because he sang it so perfectly but he sang with such passion which was infectious. I asked him to sing it once more and the song became a part of me.

He was comfortably numb to what was going on around him. His insensitivity had made me think how it would feel to fall freely with a certain ease that some one might catch him before he touches ground. It certainly can't be done through drugs coz one might feel but you might not recollect or realise it.

He left his job and moved to calcutta. And the song was buried under the day today work load. But as it is said the you don't choose song but song chooses you, the song followed me to Aurangabad. Mayur, then a colleague but now more of a friend hummed it and like phoenix it rose from ashes buried inside to rule the skies of my imaginations.

I'm still superficial about this song. Its deeper meanings and relevance is yet not gathered but I'm life will help me understand this song.

Numbness is everywhere, just that we all are numb enough not to realise it.... my best part of the song is ....

there is no pain, you are receding.
A distant ships smoke up the horizon.
you are only coming through in waves.
your lips move but I can't hear what youre sayin.
When I was child I caught a fleeting glimpse,
I turned to look but it was gone.
I can not put my finger on it now.
The child is grown, the dream is gone.
I have become comfortably numb....

We are now numb enough not to even try to realise my dreams..... Child within us has grown...
